PT. Epos Modern Indonesia
Owner

Born in Holland in 1958, Egbert Pos first visited Bali in 1985. During this first visit, he became very attracted to Indonesia and its culture. Bali at this time attracted many traders involved in handicraft production, and the garment industry, and after meeting and discussing the oportunities Egbert decided to visit Indonesia on a more regular basis.

It was on one of these visits that Egbert heard about Jepara, a town in central Java, and on his arrival there, he immediately realised that his future lay there. Jepara at that time was a large village, mostly dedicated to furniture manufacture for the local market, while not possessing quality accomodation or communications.

Egbert started off extremely well, sourcing antique tables from other towns and villages in central Java, and these tables proved to be a very popular item in Holland. Improvements and repairs were often neccessary prior to shipping, and it was not long before Egbert started up a factory to undertake these activities. The factory continued to grow as turnover increased, and today still employs many of the original staff, who by now have lots of experience in dealing with customers from many countries. Fashions change, and in order to keep up with modern trends, Egbert continues to pioneer in designing attractive and inovative products, lending variety to the furniture, and interior decor world. Jepara also continues to develop, the area now well known worldwide for furniture production.

Now married with two children, Egbert still enjoys living in central Java, constantly creating his own unique styles to fit into a wide range of commercial, exclusive and modern designs, suitable for the modern market.

Constantly applying new methods, whilst keeping as much as possible hand made, Egbert has recently developed a totally new concept of fibre optical light, combined in his furniture and art pieces. This technique has given a totally new look to antique and modern furniture creating a stunning effect with built in fibre optics. Each piece being different, and hand produced, the new range finds a creative use for recycled wood and artistic hand labor, keeping people employed and forests maintained.

Egbert hopes that he can continue to create and make his sincere contribution, to a more artistic and greener world for all.
